Installing commercial window tinting will not only improve a building’s aesthetic appeal and reduce energy costs over time; research has shown that it can provide significant health benefits to employees as well. Take a look at how much of a positive impact it will have on the health and wellbeing of office employees.

Reduce Eye Strain

Although it may seem appealing to ensure that an office environment is as bright as possible, too much direct sunlight can have negative implications as well. It creates serious glare on computer monitors and other working surfaces, making it difficult for employees to see what they are doing. Straining to see properly not only causes unnecessary fatigue; employees can end up suffering from headaches or even severe migraines over time, which will have a negative impact on productivity.

Reduce Exposure to UV Rays

Many people don’t realize that they can be exposed to excessive amounts of harmful UV radiation indoors while working at their desks. Windows that are not tinted will allow UVA and UVB rays to penetrate into office buildings and over time, this could cause employees to develop skin cancer and also accelerate the effects of aging on their faces and arms. Many of today’s commercial window tint products are able to block out as much as 99% of radiation and prevent it entering a building.

Prevent Overheating

Many office buildings become extremely warm during the summer months and this not only results in employees becoming uncomfortable overall; employees who are more sensitive to higher temperatures could experience bouts of dehydration or even heat stroke.

Improve Comfort Level for Employees with Autoimmune Conditions

Research has revealed that women who are exposed to higher levels of UVA and UVB radiation from direct sunlight stand a high chance of developing an autoimmune condition known as dermatomyositis, which has a serious effect on the skin. Employees who are already suffering from conditions such as lupus will also experience exacerbated symptoms as well, and this will result in a loss of productivity over time.

Prevent Injuries if Accidents Occur

Accidents that cause a window to break or shatter can happen in any workplace, and broken glass could cause serious injuries to an employee who may be close by at the time. However, scenarios like this can be prevented by installing reflective window tinting because it not only renders the glass more durable; in the event that breakage occurs, the film will hold the broken pieces of glass together instead of allowing them to spread all over.
